About · Vancouver, BC

I build things, then write down what I learn.

I'm Shayan Arman—a software engineer, founder, and AI product builder. I love to build, ship, and scale.

Engineer by training. Founder by choice. Writer by compulsion.

From Siri to the inbox.

Since 2017, I've engineered products at Apple and built AI products used around the world. Today, I'm the founder of Zero Inbox and an independent builder based in Vancouver.

Technology is interesting. Making it useful is the work.

2017—2021

Apple · Siri

I worked across Siri platform and product experiences, from the first Siri AirPods experience to more than 100 app integrations. It taught me how much craft hides beneath something that feels simple.

Zero Inbox

I moved from building inside one of the world’s largest companies to designing, engineering, and growing a product of my own: an AI email organizer used around the world.

Writing & research

I write about engineering, AI, startups, philosophy, and the lessons that only appear after you ship. The short notes live in Writings; the longer arguments live in Papers.

A bias toward useful.

  1. 01

    Make it real.

A working thing creates better questions than a perfect plan. I like to get ideas into the world early, then let reality sharpen them.

  2. 02

    Own the whole problem.

Engineering, product, distribution, and customer care are not separate worlds. The best work connects all four.

  3. 03

    Leave a clear trail.

I write, document, and verify. Good systems should make their reasoning visible and their outcomes easy to trust.

What has my attention now.

Have an interesting problem?

Let's make the short version real.
