Endearing
Man i remember when a bunch of my family showed up in Canada right?
One of them was this 12 year old (well call him Johnny for this story) and one day a thought dawned on me:
“Johnny yo. Yo johnny. I need to know something.”
-what? He asked curious
“Do you… know… who Einstein is?!”
-no
“Do you … know … who the beatles are?!”
-no
And i instantly was flabbergasted. Id found a time traveler. Thats what kids are! They dont know anything. And its kinda cute and funny and endearing all at the same time.
Right?
Omg this kid doesnt even know einstein! All the knowledge of the world i could teach him. Plato. Socrates. None of that!
It was like takking to a time traveler.
Only years later did i realize innocent lack of knowledge in children is kinda funny. Thats why its fun to have little cousins and your own kids.
But then i thought of something even darker.
This form of innocense in adults - the exact same lack of knowing - is totally repulsive. It makes you think theyre dumb and un-knowing.
However whats fascinating is with men, confidence and a world-knowledge, meaning how to get by in the world, is totally fine.
