Minor Deviations

How the mind notices change against its own internal norm—and how thoughts can disturb a settled nervous system.

If the brain maintains order within the body,

and external order as well,

an important factor is deviations from the norm.

If the last second, things were fine, and the system remains within a threshold the next second, we can surmise that things are a-okay.

Therefore, the mind is most aware of change. The greater the deviation, the greater the change, the bigger the awareness.

Now minor deviations from the norm are barely noticeable.

And it is only relative to each person’s norm.

My norm, my neural signature, is different than your norm, and your mean.

Therefore, we only see changes in comparison to our own neural average.

If for years then, you have been in ‘pain’, or been deviated for so long, you begin to not even notice it. It becomes the new norm…

My nervous system had reset, and was ‘On-Point’.

Half asleep, I could clearly see how every single thought arose, and effected the mean.

Each thought would arise, and I could see its effects clearly.

Why? Because the norm was now perfectly on-point, in harmony, settled. Any thought, would quickly disturb this norm.

And I realized what the Buddha said was true. Inner toxicity arises from thoughts in the mind. Each thought effects the entire system. Beware of your thoughts. Beware. Be aware…
