On Infinity

and other little things
A playful cosmological argument that infinite nothingness may make more sense than infinite stuff, leaving room for universes that borrow existence from the void.

the littlest things, are the hardest to describe; and what is littler, than infinity?

So here we go. The beginnings of the Universe. We know, through factual investigation, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the Universe started very very small. So small that our physics breaks down, and they needed Quantum Mechanics to go that tiny. After this small beginning, the Universe expanded rapidly, and expanded, and expanded…

The question is, what did this expand into? And what is the boundary of this expansion? Logically, if you were on a spaceship at the edge of this expanse, would you hit a wall? Einstein, when he was coming up with his theories, created an Ether, or a medium of exchange in the Universe. All of this hits the infinity question. How could there be infinite amount of Universe? This makes no sense…

But what if there wasn’t an infinite Universe. What if the Universe was infinitely nothing. Having infinity of anything goes against everything we know. But Infinite amounts of Nothing? Well that’s just like my bank account. So its possible.

What if the Universe then isn’t the observable Universe, but an Infinite Nothingness. Going further, if there is an infinite nothingness, the observable “Stuff - Galixies, Planets, etc.” are only one point in the Infinite Space of Nothing. And there will be other Big Bangs… with different rules. Perhaps in one of them, work is meaningless… and people aren’t judged by their economic contributions and their ability to fill out dumb tax forms.

Now how could something exist in the Infinity of Nothing? Some Physicists have figured out that even in vacuums, material “appears” only to dissapear instantly. It could be that the Universe is “borrowed”. Meaning you give a little here, take a little there, and overall it amounts to nothing. So there could be Negative Universes, to cancel out ours, where over there, I have a positive bank account, and over here, I am paying for his wealth. May he enjoy the Material wealth that I am suffering for here. May he use it wisely, unlike I did.

Again as I have stated before, to Be or Not to Be. The most beautiful statement. We are. We exist. And that is so infinitely, wonderfully beautiful. And it cannot be taken away. We exist, when there is every possibility this didn’t exist.
