On Miracles
“My friends I’ve been away.”

“Almost two months!”
Jesse really? I didn’t notice!
“Oh but surely you missed me!”
No seriously i didn’t even notice.
“Okay well iWAS gone! And i have news to share”

“This time is special i promise. I found a new definition.”
Go on then.
“There are two forms of Miracles!”
Here we go
“The first is something happens that you never thought possible.”
Yes yes yes.
“And the second is something that should have taken time, but happens instantaneously or nearly instantaneously”
Well that perfectly describes it.
“Ahhh so good to get it out of me. Almost like a large overly held after coffee morning run after the first bite..”
Ya we get the idea!
“So like pigs flying”
Exactly!
“But the definitions can have a Union Set”
No way!
“Mhmmm almost… leading… to a third Form”
For gods sake.
“If a pig, over time, slowly gets wings, thats okay.”
Right NOT a miracle
“But if the pig overnight gets wings…”
Miracle! Witch!
“Wait what..?”
Witch! Youre a witch!
“Well no theres no pigs flying here.”
Okay were good then.
“But what if the pig develops wings over time and we eventually explain it. Is it a miracle? If not thought possible?”
So you’re back tracking. You might have to leave town again for a few months.
“Then if it happens instantaneously.”
Well that just means it’s unexplainable.
“So a miracle cannot be explained?”
Surely
“But what about the second case that it happens but should never have happened in all likelihood?”
Well if it happens, and is explainable, and occurred, even though unlikely, then by happening, it proves it was possible, and shows the way as well therefore becoming explainable, then it is not a miracle.
“So then miracles aren’t a thing? And everything is possible after the fact?”
Precisely.
“So who was gone? Me or you?”
We’ve described it then. That it is simply something unexplainable that has YET to happen. Because once it happens, we are far more likely to be able to explain it. And the chances go up the moment it occurs.
“So then miracles are things that have yet to happen”
Precisely. Only in the not happening are they even special. Once they happen, they become both explainable and higher likelihood -since it just occurred!
“My god. So anything is possible after it is done.”
Ya it’s only special because it has not been done. Unexplainable. Because it’s unknowable since otherwise it would be done. Because everything is just a process.
And it is unlikely because it has never been done.
“So a miracle then is something that is unexplainable and highly highly unlikely”
Precisely. It must never occur for it to be a miracle.
“So occurrences actually ruin the mystique.”
Exactly. Upon knowing we are screwed.
“It is one of the drivers of life other than life itself”
To create and prove the miracle. Until it occurs. It is a huge driver for us. To extend the horizon of knowing.
“Ultimately it’s all knowledge.”
All of it is a process. If you have the knowledge you have if soup.
You must simply follow the steps.
“Even if they are difficult?”
The mind makes it difficult. The pain of not knowing. But it’s just a process. One step after another. The timing matters little. As long as it’s explainable, and has occurred, the miracle disappears.
