On Production
Production without Consumption.
And Consumption without Production
If you were to be dropped in a Forest alone. You would quickly seek out sources of food and water.
The ‘sources’ you find, and the quantity they produce, would be your sustenance.
In that Space, you need not ‘pay’ to use but your energy.
If you wished to begin producing items yourself, you would have one consumer, yourself.
And the access Rights to the land would be ‘free’ but only so far as
no competition shows up that wants the land
Its really that simple.
Now in a society such as ours, where the total number of Sources, and items up for Production is near endless…
How does this situation look? In our society?
Well firstly the total number of consumers is quite large. Much larger.
The items you can produce are now more varied, since you have access to more tools, and services/products have a branching effect (now that you have a car you need to service the car).
Your ability as a Consumer to consume the Production from these now varied sources is completely limited. Depending on where you live, you might still have access to nature, but this is greatly a) either reduced b) you now need access rights to the land and its production.
The Sources now, not just nature, require payment in the form of Trading goods and services.
This is now where things get interesting.
As a Producer. You must gain access to the Land you stand on. And your Production depends on what other sources you can use. In Nature, you had access to the trees, anything you could take without retribution. In a Society, your ability to ‘steal’ is far far diminished, nearing impossible by the number of Competitors in the system. You are therefore relegated to Purchase these items to Produce what you wish.
Your Production, now that it is Consumed by the people around you, is also now shifted to meet the Demand.
However, without Access Rights to the Land, and Sufficient Savings to begin Production, what is there to do?
Of course one can sell their Labour, work and Save. Scrounge more like it.
One can re-sell the production of others. In different Spaces that they currently don’t Service.
Or….
One can begin selling their thoughts.
Thoughts require no Single space for production. They can be produced anywhere.
Thoughts are valuable, imagine a 10% reduction in Server costs at Google.
Thoughts are nearly free (the brain requires the tiniest amount of food).
But where does one sell the Goods Produced?
Turns out the Market to Sell, is also in heated Competition.
Most now attempt to sell ‘online’ which is actually a ridiculous term. Your consumers do not ‘live’ online. But the Space is ‘Digital’ and not ‘Physical’. Essentially those Spaces are ‘Global’.
So now, not only are the Physical Land which we must produce is Contested over. Everything is now for Sale and must be bought. Further, the Space to Sell is also Competed relentlessly. f
Either thoughts, physical goods, or services. Must have a Space of Production. But more importantly, a Space for Sale. Both are heavily contested, and can also be sold.
