At their misunderstanding

Responsibility inherently means the ramifications of the decision (positive and negative) fall on you.

Theres a certain “ownership” to responsibility.

Meaning if your son goes out and does something horrible, both you and your son must be held partially responsible.

This model of responsibility codified in law is prevalent in the case of a bartender knowingly over pouring an individual that is deliberately drunk.

Same goes for gun ownership.

And many other things if you scratch your head long enough.
