The Nuclear Umbrella
An umbrella is an object we hold above our head,
to block rainfall, from hitting our heads.
If nuclear bombs were raining down, and we had such an umbrella,
it would stop the bombs from falling.
But in the literal sense, this technology does NOT exist. We have missile defence systems, but they aren’t perfect.
So what is the Nuclear Umbrella then? It is an extension of a nuclear deterrent. Meaning if you hit us, we hit you back. And everybody dies. So don’t try us!
When that Nuclear Deterrent extends to other allies, it becomes an Umbrella. But wait! It isn’t an umbrella in the traditional sense. You don’t just *stop nukes from falling on friends. You have to actually DO something.
What is that thing?
You have to point your nukes, at the aggressor nation.
Which brings us to Canada’s sovereignty.
