The One Person Billion Dollar Company
If you were to design a One-Person Billion Dollar Startup...
In which direction would you go?
Path 1
Let’s say you .... 1) built it up 2) got the investors 3) a) made the departments b) built the product / service, c) got customers and sales d) managed to get user feedback...
Then you systematically replace each role and department with ai...
And fire everyone.
Athis point, you have a 1 person startup.
Path 2
Perhaps far better, is to build up a 1 person founder into someone capable of doing all of this with extremely intelligent tools...
Path 3
Some combination of both, where consultants and temporary employees are hired on, until the “code” is built up enough that an agent can step in and build features on top of it / manage infrastructure. The sales pipeline is built that an AI can work within it... and the customer service systems are in place that an ai plus a supervisor can manage it...
Honestly. The most likely path to all this is taking one of these paths laid out, but also the type of product. Something like Cursor which is entirely software based, could perhaps be run by one person.
But why is this even necessary? If the cost of employees is just another cost of doing business, why the need for a one-person-unicorn.
Why even try? Efficiency, Growth, and Testing Capabilities
This might be driven by a desire to ‘test’ the capabilities of AI. If an AI system can manage entire products, chat with customers, this unlocks incredible efficiency. Driving down the cost of doing business, with less labour, that we will undoubtedly have more products and services.
Ultimately, growth is driven by efficiency. You have the same number of people producing / working. Either we have more raw resources, or they become better able to do more per capita. The economy will thus produce more products and services as a result.
Demographic Changes and the Need for Constant Output
Also, this desire for the one-person-unicorn is also driven by simple demographic trends. If people are having less children, and there are less people even able to / want to work, enabling each person to do more is necessary to make up for the lack. Even to stay ‘constant’ in output.
