The Pillars

A student fixates on the mysterious Pillars while her guidance counselor urges her to focus on herself and what she truly wants.

The Guidance Councilors Office:

She’s ready to see you now Jen

Helen!! Good to see you. Take a Seat

  • Helen rolls her eyes. Drops her bag and takes a look at the councilor.

Tell me what brings you in.

  • “even you have a pillar…”

Sometimes they come in. You know how they are

  • ‘ya. i guess i do.’

don’t focus on that. how’re your classes? I see you skipped a few last week?

  • ‘but why did the Pillar come to the Guidance Councilors office?’

Helen. Don’t focus on the Pillar.

  • “just tell me why a Pillar would come to the Guidance Councilors office?”

ahhhh. Jen takes a deep breath. Helen. They come and go as they please. I don’t control it.

  • “they never come near me. maybe i need to be a therapist”

Is that what you want? To be a therapist!? - Jen beams with excitement.

  • No! I was kidding.

Okay well you should be what you want to be! Don’t worry about what the Pillars, or anyone thinks! They’ll come to you when the time is right.

  • My cousin says there’s people that never in their whole lives spend an hour with a Pillar.

Your cousin is exaggerating.

  • NO! I believe her.

Okay well again focus on yourself! Not on the Pillars, your classmates. Only what is right! The Pillars will take care of themselves! They always have anyways…
